New Format for Business Entities Registration Number

With effect from 11 October 2019, the Companies Commission of Malaysia (“SSM”) has implemented the new format for the registration number of business entities registered with SSM (“Business Entities”). The new registration number format consists of a 12-digit number comprising of:

  • 4 digits – The year of the business entity was registered.
  • 2 digits – Business entity code.
  • 6 digits – the registration number sequence.

The new registration number given by SSM will replace the existing registration number. However, the existing registration number is still maintained and can be used until further notice. This will affect all the existing Business Entities and Business Entities to be incorporated during the transition period.
